KOLON SPORT, an outdoor brand of the KOLON Industries FnC Organization (KOLON FnC), has developed KOLON NYLON, a recycled nylon material, which will be applied to some of the SS season products this year.

KOLON, the parent company of KOLON FnC, stands for “Korea Nylon.” It is the first Korean company to succeed in nylon synthesis. With KOLON NYLON, KOLON SPORT aims to expand the use of eco-friendly materials while shedding light on the history of KOLON.

KOLON SPORT successfully developed KOLON NYLON after a 10-month development process in collaboration with KOLON GLOBAL, and Aquafil, an Italian yarn manufacturer. Through this collaboration, Aquafil's recycled nylon ECONYLE was recreated as a fabric that can be used by KOLON SPORT. With ECONYLE, the company can save 70,000 barrels of crude oil for every ton of production and reduce about 65,000 tons of carbon emissions. The production volume of KOLON NYLON for this season is 2.5 tons.

KOLON SPORT applied KOLON NYLON to 10 styles of the 21SS season products, ranging from vests and jackets to pants. Most of the products featuring KOLON NYLON were inspired by KOLON SPORT products that were popular in the 1980s and 90s. They offer stylish designs by fusing street casual sensibility into the newtro (new+retro) mood. In particular, the online-exclusive product "NILE;RAK" catches your eye. NILE;RAK, meaning "KOLON NYLON+anorak," suggests an experimental style for customers in their 20s and 30s. The anorak in the NILE;RAK collection is a reinterpretation of the design of the anorak that was KOLON SPORT's bestseller in the 1980s.

“KOLON SPORT has declared that it will use eco-friendly materials and techniques for 50% of all products by 2023. KOLON NYLON is also part of this commitment. KOLON SPORT will continue to incorporate its brand origin and the keyword 'eco-friendliness' to its products," said Park Seong-cheol, brand manager at KOLON SPORT.
